Alleged vehicle thieves, unable to outrun RCMP

Jul 2, 2021 | 2:00 PM

Two women from the Prince Albert area are facing a long list of charges in connection to an incident northeast of the city earlier this week.

Early Tuesday afternoon, RCMP attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding near Foxford but were unsuccessful.

The vehicle, which had been reported stolen, was later located abandoned in Nipawin and the two suspects were arrested nearby.

Chastitie Kakakaway, 32, faces half a dozen charges, including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police, carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of property obtained by crime more than $5,000.

Angelique Felix, 19, faces a single count of possession of property obtained by crime more than $5,000, and has been on bench warrant status for over a month.

She was allegedly behind the wheel of a stolen SUV that rammed a Prince Albert Police vehicle before backing up and hitting a second police vehicle.

Her last scheduled court date for that matter was on May 25. Both women are scheduled to appear at Nipawin court on Aug. 25.
