The first annual Ronald McDonald House Red Jacket Classic Tour will make a pitstop in Prince Albert on August 26 at Cooke Municipal Golf Course. All of the proceeds raised will go to the charity’s family room located on the pediatric ward of the Victoria Hospital.

“It’s a place where families can go off and outside the child’s room to provide a different level of comfort,” said Karen Linsley, director of development and communications for Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Saskatchewan. “They can have a coffee or sit by the fireplace and take some time out of the medical setting to support their child and be together as a family.”

This September marks the fifth anniversary of the Prince Albert family room. In the first three months of operation, it supported over 1,000 families from northern Saskatchewan. Since its opening 3,671 families have used it. In September, RMHC will host a radio blitz on Pattison Media stations in Prince Albert to continue growing support for the facility.

Golf enthusiasts are encouraged to sign up for the first annual Red Jacket Classic Tour. It started with a ladies’ tournament in Saskatoon on June 28th. The men’s tournament takes place in Saskatoon at Moon Lake Golf Course on July 19th. The Prince Albert tournament at Cooke Municipal lands on August 22nd and there is a final stop in Regina on August 30.
