She-NANIGANS welcomes band Rohs for re-opening celebration

She-NANIGANS will be swinging to the sounds of live music again starting next week.

Owner Glennda Ilett says this will be the first time the performance art venue opened since early December 2020.

“I’m really excited,” she said. “I can’t wait to get things back rolling again. We’ve really missed that live entertainment.”

While the province’s COVID-19 restrictions were lifted in July, Ilett wanted to be extra cautious and wait a little longer before opening up again.

Masks are optional, and will be available at the theatre in the event anyone requests one. But they are not required.

The band, Rohs, will be performing at the venue’s re-opening night show on Sept. 17, as part of the group’s Saskatchewan tour.

The show starts at 8 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available in advance via the She-NANIGANS website, or at the doors before the show.

The band’s music can be described as folk-rock, with a Canadian indie- rock vibe.

The group’s leader, Joel Rohs, based in Prince Albert, says he is looking forward to performing at the North Battleford theatre.

“It’s a really awesome space,” he said. “It’s really great. They’ve had a lot of good acts in there. So we’re excited to be playing there.”

Rohs says he and and the band members are also involved in helping organize the Chester Fest Music Festival taking place in Prince Albert this weekend. So their tour will start right after that.

The She-NANIGANS stop is also a CD release party, as the band’s new album, You Were Right, will be available for purchase also at the venue.

“Prior to this I was kind of the main songwriter and main singer of the group,” Rohs said. “But on this album we have a bunch of the band members contributing each of their own songs, and singing each of their own songs as well.”

He says the album is also the band’s first full-length CD, so they are especially thrilled to give people an opportunity to hear what they have to offer.
