Mandatory COVID vaccine or testing requirement coming to JRMCC

Staff at Jonas Roberts Memorial Community Centre (JRMCC) is preparing for a mandatory vaccine policy likely to be enforced starting Sept. 13.

That’s according to a public notice released Thursday, which states the policy would be regarding proof of immunization and/or proof of a recent negative COVID-19 rapid test to access services.

It will include all aspects of the building like the hallway, gymnasium, fitness centre and arena. The mandate would cover gatherings, social and recreation events, and facility usage.

“The health and safety of our users, staff and community is extremely important to us,” the notice states. “Because of that, we are taking this extra precaution at JRMCC Sports and Recreation. It’s important we remain open to the public, while doing our part to help address the COVID-19 situation in and around our community.”

The facility already adheres to the Lac La Ronge Indian Band’s mandatory mask policy and staff continue to ensure a high degree of sanitation and cleanliness.

larongeNOW reached out to JRMCC director Kevin Roberts, who wasn’t prepared to make a statement at this time.
