Northern Lights School Division is committed to protecting the health and well-being of students and staff members.

That’s according to a public notice released Oct. 6, which states the school division has developed an administrative procedure on employee vaccinations. This administrative procedure will require all staff members to show proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 or provide regular negative test results.

The decision was made by the division’s administration and is supported by the board of trustees. The notice adds information shared with division staff on Oct. 4.

“As educators, we teach the facts in our classrooms,” it states. “When it comes to the COVID-19 vaccine, the scientific evidence showing its effectiveness is unequivocal.”

Northern Lights School Division supports the provincial COVID-19 vaccination program, adding vaccination is the most effective way to protect ourselves, our families, and the community against COVID-19.

The notice states this is especially important in our schools, where most students are not yet eligible to be vaccinated.

On Tuesday, Northlands College announced staff and students will need to be fully vaccinated or undergo regular COVID-19 testing. CEO Guy Penney said more information on the roll out will be released next week.
