Mustangs down Ice Wolves to make it four wins in a row
The Melfort Mustangs continue to be one of the hottest teams in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League after their big 6-2 win over the La Ronge Ice Wolves on Friday at the Northern Lights Palace in Melfort.
Mustang forward Ben Tkachuk had three points on the night, which included scoring the second goal of the game, and adding two assists. He said as a team, and individually, it was probably the best they’ve played this season.
“Just rolling four lines all night long,” Tkachuk said. “Getting everyone involved and rolling in waves, it’s going to break teams down and it’s going to help us, and it’s going to help us win a championship.”
Curtis Hammond opened the scoring for the Mustangs almost 12 minutes in, which was quickly followed by Tkachuk’s marker 18 seconds later. Thomas Moore’s first career SJHL goal gave the Mustangs a 3-0 lead after 1, a lead they never relinquished.
