Carrot River is cutting the ribbon on its new water treatment plant.

In celebration of the project’s nearing completion, Brendan Hall, the town administrator, announced the event for Oct. 13.

“We are finally wrapping up our water treatment plant project. It’s been a long time coming. We are doing this event to kick off now that 99.9 per cent of it is done. As well as an appreciation for our tax payers and residents for bearing with us through the project,” Hall said.

Hall said Carrot River’s residents have been extremely patient throughout the project’s ups and downs. He admitted that there have been a few hiccups along the way but those are to be expected with a project of this size.

Even with the disturbances, Hall said the town wanted to make sure the job was done properly to avoid further disturbances in the future and that this project is something the town can proudly boast about.

“It goes to show you why it took so long. We wanted to do things right. We didn’t want to take any shortcuts of do anything wrong. We really took our time and fixed the hiccups before they became to big,” Hall told northeastNOW.

After the ribbon cutting there will a fundraising barbecue for all to attend. There is no set price on the food, all donations will be accepted.

“Donations for the burgers, nothing is a certain price. We are using that money for our friends down at Pasquia Regional Park. They are fundraising for a pool liner so we can hopefully send some money their way,” Hall said.
