North Stars acquire goaltender Harroch from Cranbrook

The Battlefords North Stars have added a spark between the pipes after acquiring 20-year-old goaltender, Michael Harroch from the Cranbrook Bucks of the BCHL, in exchange for a Player Development Fee.

Harroch, who is from North Vancouver, B.C., returns to the SJHL where he began his junior career with the Humboldt Broncos. There he posted a 7-7-5 record and .906 save percentage through 21 games with the Broncos over the last two years, before being moved to Cranbrook in the summer.

Head coach of the Stars, Brayden Klimosko said he likes what the veteran provides in the crease, both in his ability to stop the puck and the experience he brings to the group.

“We maybe lacked a little bit of experience back there [in goal], even though Ulrik [Roussel] has been really good lately, so this should really help,” Klimosko said. “Hopefully Michael can provide that, and obviously he knows our league as well, so we’re happy to have him and I think it was a good add by us.”

The North Stars, who own the league’s top offense having scored just over five goals (5.2) per game, will hope Harroch can help in improving their goals-against. Through 11 games, the Stars have allowed just under four goals (3.9) per contest against to start the year.

The North Stars will return to action Friday in Melville versus the Melville Millionaires. The NAPA Auto Parts North Stars Hockey Broadcast will be available on 1050 CJNB. The Ultra Print Pregame Show will begin at 7 p.m., with puck drop to follow at 7:30 p.m.
