Residents of Melfort invited to chamber’ year in review

Oct 22, 2021 | 8:00 AM

Melfort Trade Alliance Chamber of Commerce (MTACC) want to discuss the process of becoming a chamber and the events of 2020.

On Oct. 26 at 7 p.m., the MTACC will hold its first annual general meeting as an official chamber of commerce.

According to Cam Lee, MTACC’s Executive Director, a discussion will take place about becoming an official chamber.

“I know that we did not exist as a chamber as such in 2020. We were established in January 2021. We will be going through that process.”

Local business owners are invited to attend the meeting and participate in a discussion regarding the state of business during the COVID pandemic.

Steve McLellan, CEO of the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce, will be the guest speaker and will address local business owners and explain why the support of the local chamber is so crucial during this time.

MTACC is also seeking candidates for three open board positions.

“We are looking for business owners or managers to indicate their interest,” Lee said. “We are hoping these positions will be filled so they can help make the decisions along with the rest of the board that affect the chamber and local businesses.”

Several committee members are also needed. Members are needed for promotion and fundraising, member recruitment, and city relations.

All provincial mandates will be in place for those who wish to attend.

“It is free of charge for the local business community. You have to have your proof of vaccination or recent negative COVID test proof on them. As per mandates,” Lee added.

The meeting will be available online for those unable to attend in person.
