Tri-communities in the Halloween spirit

The Town of La Ronge will be hosting a Halloween costume public skating event on Halloween between 1:30 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. at the Mel Hegland Uniplex. The municipality is also holding a pumpkin carving contest and to enter residents can bring their pumpkin to the Uniplex between Nov. 1 to 3 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Voting for the best pumpkin will occur Nov. 4 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Patterson Park. Prizes include a $150 gift card for first place, $100 gift card for second and a $50 gift card for third.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is advising residents to stay home on Halloween if they don’t feel well and to trick-or-treat with family members or a few close friends. Those partaking in festivities should wear a mask, ensure physical distancing of two metres and wash your hands before and after trick-or-treating.

Tongs should be used to hang out candy or gift bags and people should offer only store bought, individually wrapped candy. If weather permits, sit outside and place individual candy or candy bags on a table for children to take.

The SHA is also advising residents to keep Halloween parties small and gather outside if weather permitting. If indoors, open windows and ensure good ventilation, maintain physical distancing, avoid sharing food or drinks, consult local public health units about gathering limits and limit gatherings to those who are fully vaccinated.
