Ice Wolves ready to welcome NHLers for Sportsman Dinner
It will be an evening of entertainment as the Ice Wolves prepare to host former National Hockey League players, including two-time Stanley Cup champion Dwight King.
King, who will be joined by Steven MacIntyre in-person and professional hockey player Jon Mirasty via Zoom, will appear Nov. 20 for a Sportsman Dinner at the Lac La Ronge Indian Band’s Jonas Roberts Memorial Community Centre. The event was originally advertised to feature just King and Mirasty, both from Meadow Lake, but the former was unable to attend in-person due to his upcoming appearance on Shoresy, a spin-off to the award-winning TV series Letterkenny.
King was a member of the Los Angeles Kings when the team won the Stanley Cup in 2012 and 2014, while MacIntyre spent many seasons with the NHL, most recently as a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins.
“I think all three of these guys will have some good stories to tell,” Ice Wolves head coach Kevin Kaminski said. “It’s not easy. It’s a lot of hard work and a lot of discipline. These guys found ways to get there. I think it’s going to be an exciting evening.”
