The Humboldt Broncos hit the road again this weekend as they headed up north to La Ronge to take on the Ice Wolves.

The 10th place Ice Wolves hosted the first place Broncos with two games at the Mel Hegland Uniplex on Nov. 12 and Nov. 13.

The green and gold kicked off Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SHJL) action with a 10-2 win. Even with a two goal lead midway through the first period, the Broncos would tie it up with goals from Alec Saretzky and Matthew Perkins to finish off the first period.

After that it was all Broncos gracing the game sheet with another goal from Saretzky and Perkins, two from Conner McGrath and one more a piece for Rhett Gibson and Noah Barlage. Newly acquired Bronco, Alex Morozoff, hit the ice sprinting with two goals of his own to kick off his SJHL career. The Broncos would total 19 assists in 10 goals.

The following evening ended with a 5-1 win once again for the Broncos with Conner McGrath being the first to light up the net midway through the first. Brandon Della Paolera would tie it up with a short-handed, unassisted goal for La Ronge to end the first period.

Once again, it was all Broncos after that with two goals for Cage Newans and one for Logan Kurki to end the second and one more for Braiden Koran in the third to finish the game.

Humboldt’s Rayce Ramsay would clock another 120 minutes with a combined 64 saves in the Broncos net in those two games.

The Broncos now have 17 wins and 5 loses in 22 regular season games and 34 points to top the SJHL standings. They also remain at the top of the league in penalty minutes with another 57 minutes added to their total which now sits at 659; 91 penalty minutes off the Weyburn Red Wings. The Ice Wolves are third in the league in penalty minutes and added another 103 to their total over their last two games.

After five games on the road in the last weekends, the Broncos are returning to home ice with the Notre Dame Hounds coming to the Elgar Petersen Arena on Nov. 17 and the Nipawin Hawks at home on Nov. 20.
