The Festival of Wreaths provides a one-stop holiday shop

The Humboldt and District Museum and Gallery is holding the Festival of Wreaths to celebrate the holiday season.

From Nov. 18 to Dec. 9, the public is invited to attend the 22nd annual silent auctions to help support arts and culture programming in Humboldt.

Jennifer Fitzpatrick, director at the Humboldt and District Museum and Gallery, said the events name may be misleading but it’s used to show the growth of the event.

“It has evolved and we are so appreciative. We want people to have some fun bidding,” Fitzpatrick told northeastNOW. “They can get some shop local items for their family and friends this Christmas season.”

Bidding takes place Tuesday to Saturday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the museum.

There will be an opportunity for late night shopping on Nov. 25 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Items up for grabs include decor, clothing, original artwork, homemade baking and other gifts for under the Christmas tree.

“We have donations from volunteers, community organizations and local businesses. Everything is donated. Then we turn around and auction it all off,” she said.

The museum gallery is open for members of the public to view the items but there is an alternative option for those who prefer to be at home.

“If people are far away or just want to do some late-night browsing, they can see all of the items on our website.”

For those attending the event in person, there are raffles for scratch-and-win lottery tickets and a jingle bottle wine grab.

“If you pay $20, you are guaranteed a bottle of wine. You can take it home right away but you don’t know what you are getting.”

All money raised goes to the friends of the museum and gallery which helps support and plan heritage arts programming throughout the year.

“They have youth art programs, concert series and scavenger hunts. The money goes right back into the community and supports activities in the area.”
