Dec 3, 2021 | 3:00 PM

Two Broncos are being honoured for their achievements this month by the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL).

With 10 points in 15 games, this month; two goals and eight assists, Humboldt native, Noah Barlage, has earned the Mayfair Diagnostics Defenceman of the Month.

The SJHL noted on their website the Barlage is the “youngest defenceman on the first-place team in the league continues to carve out what has already been a lengthy SJHL career with his hometown Broncos.”

Barlage has played 83 games with the green and gold in his three year SJHL career which would have been over a 100 if the COVID pandemic had not cancelled the 2020-2021 season.

On the SJHL leaderboard, Barlage now trails Flin Flon Bombers’ blueliner Xavier Lapointe by three points for the league’s leading defenceman title.

Broncos forward Matthew Perkins picked up DirectWest Rookie of the Year honours for his performance this past month.

The SJHL noted that a “strong case that Matthew Perkins is the front runner for all three MVP, Forward, and Rookie of the Month categories in November.”

In 12 games, the 17-year-old Balgonie, Sask. native racked up 18 points with nine goals and nine assists in November, more points than any other player this month.

Since COVID-19 has produced a lot of 19- and 18-year old rookies, the SJHL noted that Perkin’s performance so far this year makes him a strong contender for Rookie of the Year.

Also given an honourable mention for his performance in November was Rayce Ramsay for the SGEU MVP of the Month award.

The 20-year-old Saskatoon native has so far played 1,543 minutes in net for the green and gold with a 21-5 win-lose record, 2.22 goals against, and a save percentage of 0.924.

The Broncos will be facing off tonight against the Bombers to start a two-game series in Flin Flon.
