Melfort business owners are meeting to plan for the year ahead

The Melfort Trade Alliance Chamber of Commerce (MTACC) is hosting a breakfast meet-and-greet as its first event of 2022.

On Jan. 12, local business owners can gather and network at TJ’s pizza from 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.

Cam Lee, executive director of the chamber, said the event is designed to help local business owners mingle and check-in with one another.

“It’s open to all business owners in the city and area (to) discuss the state of business in 2022 with COVID, supply chain issues and labour shortage issues that most businesses in the community have in common.”

Lee hopes the event will facilitate communication between businesses and help business owners alleviate a bit of stress after the uncertainty of 2021.

“We don’t often take time out to enjoy the finer things in life and take a quick breather before work to talk to friends and fellow business owners.”

All current public health orders will be followed at the event due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in the province.

“Masks are mandated indoors and we are trying to make sure there is enough social distancing.”

MTACC is hoping to continue to facilitate networking events in the future and hopes 2022 will be eventful.

Once Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League games resume, the chamber hopes to play host to a Melfort Mustangs game.

Lee is looking forward to the chambers biggest event of the year, the show and shine. Although there is no official date yet, Lee is hopeful the event will be held in June.

The chamber is continuing to recruit new members and wants to remind all local businesses that they are welcome to the upcoming networking event.

“My door is always open, my phone is always on. If you are a business owner or someone looking for more information on the chamber itself.”
