Prince Albert police investigate $40,000 electronics heist

A man who broke into a business and stole $40,000 worth of cell phones and laptops, is on the run from police.

The incident happened on Jan.16, at approximately 9:30 a.m. The business is located in the 500 Block of 15th St. E.

According to a statement from police, an unknown man smashed the front window with a hammer and damaged display cases inside before fleeing. He is believed to have been involved in similar incidents at other locations as well.

Anyone with information about the crime, is asked to call the Prince Albert Police Service or Crime Stoppers. They can also submit a tip online.

Weapons investigation

In a separate and unrelated matter, five people are facing firearms charges after police were dispatched Friday afternoon, to a complaint about a possible impaired driver in the 2200 block of Sixth Ave. E.

A vehicle, with a stolen license plate was located, and the driver then attempted to flee and made contact with a police vehicle, before colliding with a cement barrier.

Upon further investigation, police located knives, a loaded sawed-off shotgun, and a sawed-off firearm.

Three men and two women are charged jointly, including 28-year-old Derrick Laliberte; 25-year-old Dallas Fulton; 31-year-old Brendan Bouvier; 22-year-old Elisha Merasty; and 20-year-old Joelle Fiddler.

All have pending court dates and Fulton, at the time of the incident, was on bench warrant status for failing to show up for a trial.

He also has outstanding charges related to a violent incident in the city last October.

Police were called to a residence in the 800 block of 15th St. W. A woman was treated for non-life threatening stab wounds to her cheek and thigh and one man was treated for a stab wound to his neck.

For this incident Fulton was charged with aggravated assault, sexual assault, uttering threats and unlawful confinement.
