North Stars announce jersey design contest for youth in community

Jan 27, 2022 | 1:41 PM

The Battlefords North Stars are inviting young fans to grab a marker or pencil crayon and let their creativity shine, through their new jersey design contest.

The Stars are looking for youth from Grades 7 and under to design a special third jersey for the team to wear for four to six games during the 2022-23 season.

Youth wishing to take part in the jersey design contest can pick up their blank jersey sheets to decorate at their local elementary school or find them available here to print from the North Stars Facebook post. (Facebook/Battlefords North Stars)

Rules for submissions are as follows:

1. A North Stars logo must be on the front, and in the middle of the jersey. Any of the team’s past or present logos are acceptable.

2. There must be space left on the back for the team’s name bar, number and sponsor logo.

Other than that, the jersey concepts are free-reign, including colour-wise.

All jersey submissions must be handed in by February 18, 2022, with the winning jersey announcement to be made at the North Stars final regular season home game, March 5, 2022.

Office manager with the Stars, Kennedy Schmidt said the contest serves as just another way the team is happy to connect with youth in the Battlefords and area.

“We wanted to find a way to include the younger fans and let them know we love having them here [at the games], and really can’t wait to see what they come up with,” Schmidt said.

In addition to the contest winner, there will also be two runner-ups who will receive prizes of a youth North Stars jersey, as well as a season tickets for the 2022-23 season.

The winner of the design contest will receive a jersey featuring their design, as well as free season tickets for the 2022-23 season and an opportunity to meet the team and have their special jersey signed.

Each kid who enters a jersey design will receive one free ticket to attend one of the team’s regular season home games.
