Meadow Lake’s Coverchuk leads Canadian bull riders in Texas
Meadow Lake’s champion bull rider is going to compete for his country next month.
Two-time Canadian champ Cody Coverchuk will lead a veteran-filled Team Canada to Arlington, Texas on March 5, where they will compete in the 2022 Professional Bull Riders (PBR) Global Cup USA inside AT&T Stadium. This is the fifth edition of the PBR Global Cup, the only international bull riding competition which debuted in Edmonton in November 2017.
Joining Coverchuk are four other riders, including 2020 PBR Canada Champion Dakota Buttar of Kindersley, who will represent his country for the fifth time. This is Buttar’s first competition since a groin injury sidelined him at the end of the 2021 season. Coverchuk will compete in the event for a second time, since last taking part in 2017.
Four-time PBR World Finals qualifier Tanner Byrne from Prince Albert makes his debut as head coach.
