Two point win

Consistent effort from Broncos earns team two hard-won points

The Humboldt Broncos have extended their current winning streak to three games with a win against the Nipawin Hawks last night.

For head coach, Scott Barney, this was a hard earned two points and a consistent effort from the players, saying the game was a playoff atmosphere.

“The game was very physical. Nipawin has a good young club and always a tough place to get two points. Really happy with the effort from our players.”

Christian Albertson would score first for the Hawks midway through the first period but that’s as far as the Hawks would come against the green and gold.

Connor McGrath would score his 27th of the season to tie up the game four minutes into the second with Braiden Koran following suit with his 22nd of the season and the game winning goal.

McGrath has been maintaining his first place in the top skater list with Koran gaining some headway sitting at ninth place along with fellow Broncos forwards Matthew Perkins and Alec Saretzky.

The Hawks would pull goalie Chase Hamm with three minutes left in the third for the man advantage but the Broncos would successfully defend the onslaught.

While the Broncos are keeping pace with the Estevan Bruins, with both teams sitting at 74 points each, the Bruins still have the advantage and is sitting in first place in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League.

The Broncos will now prepare to welcome the Hounds for the last home game against Notre Dame.

Barney said this should be an entertaining game given the Hounds performance in the last six games.
