Skate Battlefords celebrate season with year-end showcase

Skate Battlefords held their Onward & Upward 2022 Skater Showcase this week, as a final performance of the winter season.

About 75 skaters of all ages and skill levels participated in the annual year-end showcase, as an opportunity to show what they learned throughout the season, with family and friends in attendance at the Access Communications Centre.

An annual event that had been cancelled the last two years due to the pandemic, coach, Cindy Tymoruski said it was special to be able to host the event again this year, and celebrate the skaters for another strong season.

“It was amazing and much, much appreciated by all, after not having a showcase for a couple of years,” she said. “It was really well received and everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves, so it was a much-needed event that was good for the wellbeing of our club and our skaters to be able to have once again.”

Tymoruski said in addition to all the skaters who came out to perform, she also would like to thank all those behind the scenes, who helped organize and prepare the event as a great way to end the season.

“I just want to say a special thanks to Candace Dustan, who was the lead on the showcase and did a lot of work, and of course we couldn’t have done it without her or the help of the board and the great volunteer parents all around who really stepped up and helped make this a really successful event.”

With the conclusion of the winter season, Skate Battlefords will now look ahead to their Spring Camp for skaters from the club and surrounding area, which will take place over the Easter break, April 18-22. The fall/winter season will begin again in late-August/September.
