Battlefords Volleyball Club gearing up for provincials
As the calendar winds its way towards the end of April, provincials sit just around the corner for the Battlefords Volleyball Club.
The club will see each of their 11 teams from 13U to 18U at both the men’s and women’s ranks compete at a provincial tournament over the next three weeks, including four ranked amongst the elite in their age groups: The 16U and 18U men’s teams (each ranked second), the 14U women’s team (ranked fourth) and the 17U women’s team (sixth) heading into their provincial tournaments.
Paul Sarsons with BVC said it’s been great to see so many of the local teams find the success they have this season, coming off a challenging last couple of years.
“I think with four teams ranked in the top eight, with a couple ranked in the top two, it’s a good showing for our teams after a two-year hiatus that they’re able to compete at a high level with the rest of the province,” he said. “That means our club has done a good job of maintaining skill development and athlete development during COVID.”
