A dangerous driving incident required the assistance of numerous RCMP detachments along Highway 11 to bring it to an end, according to the RCMP.

On Wednesday, the Saskatoon Police Service was in touch with Rosthern RCMP asking for assistance to help stop a dangerous driver traveling northbound along Highway 11 in a white truck.

While Rosthern RCMP safely diverted traffic and set up a road block for the oncoming truck, they were not able to successfully stop the driver who hit a civilian vehicle and an RCMP vehicle with the truck and continuing along.

RCMP continued to pursue the truck, but just before MacDowall, the truck crossed the ditch and began driving the wrong way in the southbound lane, heading towards Prince Albert.

Prince Albert RCMP were prepared for the truck, setting up another road block near the south entrance to MacDowall in order to stop southbound-traveling traffic.

However, the truck swerved around the second road block, nearly hitting a Prince Albert RCMP officer and then continued a few kilometres further north in the wrong lane before turning west on a grid road.

The truck finally stopped due to mechanical reasons and RCMP officers were able to arrest the driver without incident.

During this pursuit, the RCMP officers were able to ensure that no police officers or civilians were injured.

The driver, David Adams, faces a list of charges:

-Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
-Impaired operation of a motor vehicle
-Refusal to provide breath sample
-Two counts of failure to stop at the scene of an accident
-Operation of a motor vehicle while being pursued by police
-Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
-Assault on a peace officer with a weapon causing bodily harm
-Driving while disqualified/prohibited

Adams will made a first court appearance in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Jan. 15 and will make his next appearance Jan. 22.
