Train crash near Broadview kills four, injures two

Four people are dead and two others injured after a train crash near Broadview.

A camper van was hit by a CP train at an uncontrolled crossing on a grid road just south of Highway 1, about five kms east of Broadview.

The 15-year-old boy driving the van has serious injuries and was taken by STARS air ambulance to a hospital in Regina.

A 42-year-old woman who was a passenger in the van is in a hospital in Broadview.

The four other people in the van – a seven-year-old boy, two 11-year-old girls and an 18-year-old woman died at the scene.

RCMP said the main rail line east of Broadview is closed while officers investigate. An RCMP traffic analyst has been called in to assist along with CP police and the provincial cononer’s officer.

No names will be released until family members are notified.
