RCMP arrest suspect in Onion Lake related to alleged attempted murder case

A male suspect was arrested in the Onion Lake area Thursday afternoon related to an ongoing alleged attempted murder investigation out of Alberta.

Onion Lake RCMP reported at about 1 p.m. a suspect vehicle connected to an ongoing attempted murder investigation originating in Edmonton was located at a residence in the Harlan Rd. area of Onion Lake. Subsequently, at about 2:15 p.m. police arrested Mustafe Rashid, 29, who police say was taken into custody without incident. RCMP officers from Onion Lake, Turtleford, and Maidstone detachments were involved in the arrest. 

Onion Lake RCMP also report the suspect was wanted on a warrant.

No charges have been laid by the Onion Lake RCMP at this time, according to the release. The Edmonton Police Service will continue to lead the investigation.
