Discussions are in their early stages regarding the design of a new school for local Francophone students in Prince Albert and the city’s mayor is voicing his support for the idea.

The Conseil des écoles fransaskoises (CEF) is in the early stages of developing plans for a new school in the city to alleviate overcrowding at École Valois. While nothing has been decided yet, a spokesperson for the CEF told paNOW that Francophone learning opportunities are in demand and there is a need for a new facility in Prince Albert.

The CEF said talks are in the very early stages and more details will be forthcoming at a later date.

The idea of a new francophone school in the city is one Prince Albert Mayor Greg Dionne supports fully. Dionne sent a letter of support to the CEF last month, saying it is important to provide French learning and cultural opportunities in Prince Albert.
