A North Battleford resident is now a millionaire.

Digna Rico won $1 million on one of the 28 Lotto Max Maxmillions draws on Sept. 28.

When she went to the gas bar the morning after the draw, checked her ticket and saw a bunch of zeros on the screen, she started jumping around and said, “Yes. Yes. Yes. Thank you, Lord.”

At first, Rico thought she had only won $10,000 and couldn’t believe it when she found out it was actually a million.

“I had to ask the cashier if I won $1,000, $10,000, $100,000 or more,” she said in a release from Saskatchewan Lotteries. “When they told me it was one million, I just clapped my hands – I was so excited.”

Rico has a few ideas for her winnings, starting with putting some of the money away for retirement and her children’s education. She said winning the lottery is one of her long-time goals so she can help her family.

“I am so happy to be able to do this,” she said. “It is a dream come true.”

Rico purchased her winning ticket at Fas Gas Plus in North Battleford. This Friday’s Lotto Max draw is $60 million and an estimated 42 Maxmillions prizes.
