Town of Battleford on development high

The Town of Battleford has had a good year for development so far, and has actually exceeded the City of North Battleford’s count.

Battleford Mayor Ames Leslie said when he attended last week’s appreciation dinner for retired Battlefords-Lloydminster MP Gerry Ritz in Lloydminster, he and council were congratulated for the town’s success in bringing in so much new development.

“It wasn’t anything of one against the other,” he said. “One Member of Parliament had mentioned they noticed the Town of Battleford’s building permit values were higher than the city’s. It’s not something they’ve seen before.”

Leslie said the town had close to $27-million in permit values for development projects so far, for January to September based on the latest building permit report. That’s also a big boost from the same time in 2017, when the town had about $5.1-million value in permits from development.
