Demand increases for flu shots

There are more people in Saskatchewan rolling up their sleeves this year, according to the Saskatchewan Health Authority.
 
There were 95,000 doses of the flu shot administered across the province from Oct. 22 to Oct. 27. This represents an 11 per cent jump from the same time last year.
 
Two walk-in clinics are scheduled to run this month at the South Hill Mall public health facility; Nov 17 and Nov. 24 from 9:00 a.m. until 4 p.m. Anyone wanting a flu shot can also get one from their local public health clinic or pharmacy. Local schools in the area are offering the flu shots this week.
 
The publicly-funded flu vaccine is recommended for anyone six months of age and older and it’s especially important for people at high risk of complications, according to the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA). That includes pregnant women, young children, the elderly, and people with underlying health conditions and their caregivers.
