A worker was injured and some equipment was damaged in an explosion last week in the northern Saskatchewan community of Pelican Narrows.

The incident was confirmed by both Chief Peter Beatty and Saskatchewan Occupational Health and Safety. Beatty told paNOW that two vehicles were damaged in the Nov. 24 incident and one person suffered minor injuries, although he didn’t have many more details.

“There was an accidental explosion, I know that much,” Beatty said. “A pretty big explosion looks like, two trucks were damaged.”

Work is ongoing on a new water intake station in Pelican Narrows. Beatty said there have been some safety concerns over the work.
