Keith May

Posted Jan 9, 2018 | 3:15 AM

It is with great sadness the family of Keith Allan May announces his peaceful passing on December 31, 2017 at the age of 74 with his family by his side. He is loved and remembered by his partner Lisa Bowers, Lisa’s daughters that he loved as his own, Stephanie (Ryan) Pawliw and Cagney (Devin) O’Hara; his grandchildren Ava, Riley, Eve, Liam and Reid; his siblings Barb (Gord) Stokes, Glenn (Evie) May, Ron(Trish) May, Lynn (George) Georgiou, Patty (Brian) May, Vicky (Denis) May; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Keith was predeceased by his mother Ethel Peggy May, his father Gilbert George May and his father in law Stanley Bowers. Keith was born on February 5, 1943 in Montreal, Quebec. At a very young age he started working at Kraft Foods along with his father. He had a strong desire to serve his country and enlisted in the Armed Forces where he served for two terms. In 1966 he served in NATO Cypress Peace Keeping. He was a member of the Black Watch. In 1967 his troop toured Canada with the Tattoo. Once his tour was over he returned to Ontario where he worked numerous jobs from delivering for Sears department store and working maintenance in hotels. He worked at Canada Post delivering mail for sixteen years. Keith retired while working at a Long Term Care facility in Burlington, Ontario. Keith moved to Prince Albert, Sk in 2008 to be with the love of his life, Lisa. Keith worked in maintenance at Leon’s Furniture. Together they made a home in Prince Albert and later bought their homestead north of Meath Park, Sk. It was here that Keith spent the best days of his life. He enjoyed a relaxing cup of coffee and spent most of his day outside either mowing grass, working in the garden, cutting firewood or working on one of his many projects. You never knew what he would be up to next. When company would stop in, work would stop as he would say “It’s five o’clock somewhere” and “A bird cannot fly on one wing”. “Papa” Keith lived through his grandchildren’s eyes, they were the light of his life. Laughter always filled the room; he always had a smile on his face and usually a snack containing chocolate in hand. His family was his greatest source of pride and joy. Keith was a wonderful, strong, honest, good hearted man and never afraid of hard work. Over the last three and a half years Keith was courageous and demonstrated a tremendous amount of strength with his battle with cancer. We will always love you and miss you dearly. Rest in Peace. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In Lieu of other tributes, memorial donations may be made to the Howard Cemetery Fund, PO Box 303, Meath Park, SK S0J 1T0, In care of Lisa Bowers.
