Rocky Arsenault, from Nipawin, was trapped between a rock and a machine, in a mine mill for nearly eight hours, Tuesday.

Emergency crews from La Ronge were in a race against time, getting to the man.

Just before midnight RCMP Cpl. Ray Zillich had good news.

It will be some time yet before anyone sees emergency response helicopters --or the STARS program as it is known -- in Saskatchewan's sky.

The STARS program, which was announced by the government in the spring, won't be up and running until the fall of 2012.
