Prince Albert Police said they have arrested a woman who allegedly stole a second vehicle eight hours after her arrest for possession of a stolen vehicle.

Police got a call for a woman passed out in a suspicious vehicle early in the morning of June 9, and when they arrived at the 600 block of 22nd St. E. they woke up a female suspect who was apparently impaired by drugs. The 33-year-old Regina woman was arrested on outstanding warrants and taken into cells while the vehicle was towed. The suspect was released from cells with a notice to appear in court.

Later that day, police investigators identified the impounded vehicle as stolen from Pilot Butte, with a licence plate stolen from Regina. The vehicle also contained stolen property from multiple cities.

The suspected thief, just hours after her release from police cells, entered a local gym and used a false name to obtain a pass. She then broke into a locker and swiped some car keys, police said, and made off with a patron’s vehicle.

Police put out a call for assistance June 12, and shared photos of the suspect captured by the gym’s security cameras. On June 14 police located and arrested the suspect at a home in the 3,000 block of Fifth Ave. E.

The suspect, who was wanted for recent thefts in Saskatoon, Regina, Prince Albert and Winnipeg, is now facing additional charges of auto theft, fraudulent impersonation, possession of stolen property, and mischief. She made her first appearance yesterday in Prince Albert Provincial Court.
