Eleven-year-old plans trade show fundraiser for cancer
Garrett Knudsen sat quietly by the door of the Union Centre and welcomed guests as they arrived this weekend. He was surrounded by Tootsie Rolls and other candies he had on offer.
Behind him sat about twenty tables lined with handmade artisan goods and other items residents were looking to sell. It was all part of Garrett’s Sweet Fundraiser, a trade show and garage sale the 11-year-old wanted to host in an effort to raise funds for cancer.
“One day I just woke up and I wanted to do it,” he said, as his hair rested on his shoulders as he grows it out for a donation.
The entire event came together in just over two weeks thanks to helping from friends and family on Facebook. To the show of support, the shy youth said it was all “a pretty good feeling.”
