M.L. Music Festival flourishing in 40th year
Music has been filling the air in Meadow Lake this week.
The 40th annual Meadow Lake and District Music Festival started Monday and runs until April 20. Vocalists, pianists, and speech-arts performers, as well as full concert bands, spent the week being scored by independent judges. The final tallies will be announced at an awards evening Monday, April 23 at 7 p.m.
Tanya Ellis, president of the music festival committee, said it’s been a busy and wonderful week. Over 100 music students from ages six to 18 from across the region are taking part.
“On Monday night, we’ll have great performances from the winners that the adjudicators have chosen,” she said. “I’ve had an opportunity to watch both vocal and piano, and it’s just amazing the talent that we have in this community. It’s mind-blowing what some of the students can do.”
