A Prince Albert man has been identified as one of two people killed while working on the construction of a transmission line in the community of Come by Chance, N.L.

Jared Moffat, 34, of Prince Albert and Tim McLean, 31, of Nipigon, Ontario died in the accident. The two were on a tower when it collapsed.

The men were employed by Forbes Bros. Ltd., an Alberta-based powerline construction company with offices across the country, including one in Prince Albert.

In a news release from the company, Matthew Forbes, Senior Vice President said, “we continue to support the families of Jared and Tim during this very difficult time. The families remain our priority. We have committed to inform them of what we learn in a timely manner.”

Forbes Bros. Ltd. said it is working with organizations including Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro to determine what occurred prior to the incident.

“We continue our investigation to gain a comprehensive understanding of the cause of this tragic accident,” Forbes said. “We have a team dedicated to ensure timely public disclosure, and a comprehensive investigation.”

A GoFundMe page set up to help cover costs of a funeral and expenses for Moffat’s family, has raised more than $17,000 in one day. A post on the page describes him as a “loving father” and “friend to so many.”
