A showcase of the cultural and artistic abundance in Prince Albert will take over the city at months end.

Spread over three days, Culture Days weekend will offer free, interactive, cultural opportunities to raise awareness and engagement of the arts in communities across the province and country.

A long list of events is slated for P.A., including art promenades, historical and architectural tours, a storytelling cultural cafe and the Tapestrama music and cultural showcase.

“Art is a big part of our culture,” Rick Orr with Prince Albert Downtown said. His organization is helping to host the Urban Art Tour on Saturday. Over 30 artists, many of which are based locally, will demonstrate their work at downtown businesses. Some artists pieces will be on offer at a number of the displays.

“The real fun thing about having artists come into our business is, not only do people get to find our amazing artisans that we have in our community, but they get to also explore the businesses who are doing amazing things also,” Orr added.

The event, according to Orr, is about more than just shining a light on local culture, saying it is a way to bring the community together and link local artists with the general public.

Leading into the event will be the Arts Hall of Fame Induction Gala where the Prince Albert Arts Board will induct local lawyer Mitchell Holash for his 25 years of contributions to the arts community.

Free transit for the weekend was additionally approved at a recent city council meeting, allowing residents to both explore the newly implemented routes and times and take in the wide array of activities.

Culture Days starts Sept. 29 and runs until Oct. 1.
