Salvation Army holiday campaign to support over 100 local families
Thanks to a number of fundraisers, Meadow Lake’s Salvation Army will be able to support local families once again this year.
Their Christmas hamper application process just closed and over 100 families from the area will receive packages of food and toys.
“We just finished taking in our applications, and certainly the numbers this year will be as high as we’ve seen for some years,” Maj. Peter Eason of the Salvation Army said. “Within each family, there’s a few people, so we’re talking hundreds of people. For an area this size, that’s a significant number.”
Over the campaign’s 80 years, the organization had raised money through the CJNS Empty Stocking Fund Radiothon, the traditional Christmas Kettle Campaign, and most recently the Red Shield campaign. Supporters purchase an emblem and the Meadow Lake Co-op matches donations up to $3,000.
