2018 Community Builder Hall of Famer cares about community
Doris Young and her family have officially called Meadow Lake their home for 48 years, and in that time they’ve built businesses and become integral parts of the community’s fabric. Last night, Young was celebrated for all the effort she has given back to the community in that time.
Young owns and runs Ron’s Plumbing and Heating, as well as the Bear’s Den restaurant and Meadow Lanes bowling alley in the city. She said it’s been important for her whole family to be cheerleaders for the community in a number of ways over the years, including volunteering, donating and sponsoring various causes, and supporting commerce endeavours.
Her late husband Ron was an avid volunteer and philanthropist as well, and said she feels wonderful about receiving the 2018 Community Builder Hall of Fame nod at the Meadow Lake Business Excellence (MLBEX) awards last night.
“I feel great about it,” Young said. “You have to take a chance, and that’s what we did when we moved to town with our business.”
