New business to offer transportation between La Ronge and Prince Albert
A new business transporting passengers between La Ronge and Prince Albert is set to begin operations next week.
Vi Werchola, owner of L.A. Family Taxi in La Ronge, started a new company called L.A. Family Shuttle which will officially begin operating June 20. She said they’ll be using seven- and 10-passenger vans, but will consider purchasing a small bus if the business does well.
“Since STC shut down a year ago, there’s been nobody starting anything up and we see a real need for people to get to their appointments, shop, visit relatives or get to funerals,” Werchola told larongeNOW. “Sometimes people can catch a ride with a friend, but sometimes it doesn’t happen.”
Trips to Prince Albert will occur every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday, Werchola said, and customers are encouraged to book seats in advance. A one-way ticket for an adult including GST is $78, seniors and students up to the age of 12 will pay $68, younger children can ride for $45 and pre-schoolers are free. She said those who ride with L.A. Family Shuttle to Prince Albert will be given a discounted price for the return fare.
