Osprey Wings Ltd. is in the process of being sold.

It marks the second time in the last year an announcement has been made that the charter aircraft company that has served northern Saskatchewan for more than 50 years is changing hands. The first announcement in March 2023 was in regards to an undisclosed buyer.

According to a media release issued Wednesday by Moose Jaw-based JGL, the new ownership will be led by Glen Thompson and Bill Jameson.

“Founded by Garry and Bonnie Thompson on the Churchill River system in Missinipe, Sask., Osprey Wings has built its reputation on well-maintained aircraft, experienced pilots, and reliable service,” the release states.

“With charters flying out of Missinipe and La Ronge, Osprey Wings provides access to various destinations, including fishing lodges, private cabins, and sightseeing spots along with providing access for fire suppression, exploration, and surveying.”

The new ownership group looks forward to carrying on the quality and service customers have come to know and expect from Osprey Wings. They are now taking bookings for the 2024 season.

“After many years of flying with Osprey Wings, and the Thompson family, we know the importance of, and have experienced, the excellent service this company has provided to Northern Saskatchewan,” Glen Thompson, who is not related to Garry and Bonnie, is quoted in the release.

Jameson noted the new ownership group understands the vital role Osprey Wings plays for many sectors in Northern Saskatchewan.

“Our group is dedicated to continuing the legacy where the Thompson family has left off,” he said.

The Thompson family would like to send their sincerest gratitude to their customers for their business over the years and is looking forward to transitioning their knowledge and experience to the new owners for the continued success of Osprey Wings.
