The La Ronge Ice Wolves have begun the search for a new assistant coach.

It comes after the team announced on Thursday that Kyle Schneider, of Prince Albert, was no longer in that role. Schneider replaced Gaelan Patterson as assistant coach in 2021.

Schneider ended his junior hockey career with the Ice Wolves in 2020. He joined the the following year as an assistant coach and received a three-year contract extension in 2022.

A statement released by the Ice Wolves notes Schneider brought passion, commitment, and a strong understanding of the game to their bench.

“He was mentored and developed by former NHLer and current Head Coach/General Manager Kevin Kaminski, one of the most respected names in junior hockey. Under that guidance, Kyle became a steady and reliable presence behind the bench,” it stated.

“Kyle continues to share his knowledge with the next generation of Saskatchewan players as part of Saskatchewan Hockey’s Development Program, and we’re proud to see him grow in his coaching career.”

Schneider couldn’t be reached for comment on this article. Kaminski declined to comment.
