Two people are now in custody after Prince Albert police investigated an attempted robbery with a firearm.

Yesterday morning around 6:40 a.m., police were dispatched after a taxi driver said two passengers attempted to rob him with a gun.

The driver told police he took a man and woman to an apartment building on Bryant Place before the man pointed a firearm at him, demanding cash.

When the driver tried to take the gun away from the suspect, the gun fired with a bullet going through the cab. The suspect fled on foot.

After attending the apartment, officers located and arrested the man who still was in possession of the gun. The woman was also arrested.

The 20-year-old woman, Tia Highway, from Prince Albert was charged with 14 firearm-related offences.

The 23-year-old man, Lloyd Primeau, from Muskoday was charged with 16 firearm-related offences and breaching one of his probation conditions which ordered him to not be a passenger in a cab.

Both suspects appeared in court today. Highway is scheduled to return to court tomorrow, while Primeau’s case was adjourned to Feb. 14.
