Local ward boundaries to be reviewed ahead of next municipal election
The City is taking a look at ward boundaries in Prince Albert ahead of the 2020 municipal election.
Public notice has been issued that the city’s eight ward boundaries will be reviewed under The Cities Act. A bylaw to establish a new ward commission to review the boundaries will be before city councillors on Jan. 28.
Anyone wanting to talk to council on the issue is asked to submit their comments before the end of the business day on Jan. 22.
Sherry Person, city clerk with the City of Prince Albert, said the act requires a review of ward boundaries at least once every three elections, or when the population of a ward changes by more than 10 per cent. Ward boundaries were also reviewed in 2011 and 2003.
