Salvation Army kicks-off the kettle campaign

The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign begins its roll-out in Prince Albert.

Kettles are now set up at various stores and businesses around the city. Captain Laura Van Schaick said the organization could always use more volunteers, especially the evening shift which runs from 6 to 8 p.m.

“If you work during the day but could give us two hours during the evening, that would be fantastic,” she said.

Van Schaick said the Salvation Army has registered 550 families in the Prince Albert area who will be receiving Christmas hampers this year. 

“Within that, about a 1,000 children are going to be receiving toys this Christmas so the need is definitely there,” she said.

Toy donations can be dropped-off at a collection box supplied by the Prince Albert Optimus Club. The boxes will be located at Wal Mart, Gateway Mall, Canadian Tire, Superstore, South Hill Mall, Gateway Mall, Peavey Mart and the Jim Pattison Broadcast Group.

Toys will also be collected at the Prince Albert Raiders game Dec. 8 during Teddy Bear toss night and on Dec. 15 on Santa Anonymous night.
