Construction begins for million-dollar Kinsmen Pool upgrades

Construction on million-dollar pool upgrades have officially begun in Kinsmen Park.

Crews are five days into the demolition of the previous pool and will eventually install a new pool priced at $1.125 million. The price includes new piping, a new deck, fencing, and a $65,000 contingency.

Concrete floor and pool decks will be completed by next year May according to Kiley Bear, communications manager for the city of Prince Albert.

She said the city hopes to have the pool ready by next summer. 

The project was planned for in last year’s budget. Some members of council expressed their concerns about the cost of pool upgrades after a particulary lean provincial budget.
