NEW YORK — The Montreal Impact's win streak has come to an end on the road.

Ronald Matarrita had a goal and an assist to lead New York City FC to a 3-0 victory over the Impact on Wednesday night, snapping Montreal's run at four wins.

"We lost against a team that was better than us tonight, throughout the entire game," said Impact head coach Remi Garde.

Matarrita entered as a substitute in the 62nd minute. Three minutes later, his chip caught Montreal goalkeeper Evan Bush out of position and found its way to the side netting to make it 2-0.

Maturita assisted on Jonathan Lewis' first MLS goal in the 76th minute, which was a header that glanced in off the right post.

In the middle of seven games in 22 days, the Impact had an altered lineup to start the match.

Canadian Shamit Shome started his first ever MLS game, while Michael Petrasso, Víctor Cabrera, Raheem Edwards and Anthony Jackson-Hamel were all back in the starting 11.

"We tried to resist and to be a little heavier offensively in the second, but I think tonight, we had a little less of a repertoire to do what we've been doing in recent games," said Garde.

"I didn't want us to lower our collective spirit, and I must say I wasn't disappointed. The result was logical tonight, unfortunately for us."

Jesus Medina opened the scoring in the 60th minute with a left-footed smash from 20 yards out for NYCFC (11-4-4).

City remained unbeaten at home this season (9-0-1), with six of those wins coming via shutout. The Impact, which has been shut out seven times this season, dropped to 2-9-0 on the road and 8-12-0 overall.
