St. Walburg man faces drug charges after arrest

A 36-year-old St. Walburg man will appear in North Battleford Provincial Court today after a vehicle stop by RCMP on Friday night.

The man was charged with seven offences including possession of cocaine and methamphetamines for the purpose of trafficking, and driving while impaired.

Witnesses foil, catch attempted work site vehicle thieves

Two people attempting to steal a vehicle from a work site approximately 5 kilometres east of North Battleford Friday were stopped by witnesses after they got stuck while attempting to flee. 

The incident occurred shortly after noon on Dec. 8 along Highway 40.

Chamber board elections underway

The Battlefords Chamber of Commerce nominations committee is getting ready to hold it's annual board elections.

There are nine two-year term seats to fill on the board alongside one seat for a one-year term as one director has decided to step down. 

According to North Battleford Mayor, Ryan Bater, council hasn't discussed the potential of Uber operating in the city and won't entertain the idea until either the company expresses interest in N.B. or the community expresses interest in wanting the service.

No plans for Uber in North Battleford yet

The Uber ride-sharing service has been approved to establish itself in the province, but hasn’t set its sites on the Battlefords yet and the city says it is a bridge it will cross when they get to it.
