A Prince Albert woman who fed her drug addiction by stealing from numerous homes and businesses was handed a significant jail sentence this morning.

Brittany Dayle Ledoux, 26, pleaded guilty to stealing from Warehouse One, Lammle’s Western Wear, Superstore (on two separate occasions), and two P.A. homes. Defence lawyer Terra Lennox-Zepp said Ledoux stole clothing, cosmetics and any other goods she could get her hands on in order to maintain her addiction to the opiate painkiller hydromorphone.

In one case the court heard Ledoux broke into a 16th St. W. home and made off with electronics, but was quickly located by a tracking program installed on a stolen iPad. The homeowner accompanied police to help identify the stolen goods, and quickly spotted Ledoux because she was wearing his jacket.

This morning, Judge Hugh Harradence sentenced Ledoux to spend the next 10 months in Pine Grove Correctional Centre. Harradence noted the sentence was on the lower end of the possible range, but imposed the 10-month recommendation because it was proposed jointly by the Crown and defence.
